Buy low sell high is a myth. It's an overhyped, misconstrued, and overall misleading concept that has been pounded into our brains simply because it sounds good.

"If I buy an item low, then sell it high, I'll make a profit!"

Obviously, knowing when to buy low and when to later sell high are two key pieces of information which evade the masses. This is why few people can take the buy low, sell high advice and turn it into a real profit. But the part that makes this saying false goes even deeper than the timing issue.

Like I said, there's more to this than meets the eye. Even if you can find items to buy low and sell high, you're still following an incorrect economic theory. You see, this whole ficticious buy low, sell high motto is based on how the buyer sees the world. In order to create a truly successful business model, you need to unselfishly consider what the buyer sees.

A buyer sees a high priced item as overpriced, whereas a seller sees it as a huge profit margin. These two world views collide, resulting in pain for both parties. However, if you change the motto to:

"Buy low, Sell Normal."

...then the veil has been lifted and a ray of sunshine bursts forth from the darkness like water escaping a cracked dam. Analogies aside, buying low and selling normal makes a hell of a lot more sense to both buyers and sellers.

The seller in this instance is not trying to be a "Greedy Scammer" who takes advantage of the buyer. Instead, he or she is providing a service of picking up cheap items and relisting them at normal price (perhaps lower in some cases). When every other seller is trying to raise prices, an intelligent auctioneer is trying to lower them.

This is why large retailers like Walmart are so successful. Buy low, sell normal.

Woah Diablo 3 is coming May 15th!

How do I know this is the real deal and not another fiasco by Blizzard for hype's sake? Well, Blizzard just announced the firing of 60 some game developers. You may be thinking... oh no that's awful! But wait, that's actually good news. When game companies are nearing the end of their development cycle, it's sometimes common practice to start laying off the people you won't need after the game launches. This most likely indicates that the game is pretty much ready for release and now Blizzard is reducing their staff of programmers. Keep in mind that there are probably well over 200 developers working on Diablo 3, so these 60 shouldn't prevent them from working on updating the game. It's just proving that the bulk of work is finished.

If you're like most Diablo 3 fans, you've put some thought into trying the Real Money Auction House (RMAH) to make money playing Diablo 3. Maybe you've decided it just won't work, or maybe you're on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

Personally, I've been trying to figure out if it's really worth it to even try. Then I came across this guy named Markco. I don't know if you've heard about him from when he wrote about making gold in wow, but this guy is the real deal. He's already speculating and coming up with strategies to make money with the RMAH. Not a few months after release, but literally on the day of release!

I was really skeptical that this guy could somehow figure out the information when all we have is 13 levels of the game from Beta, but after reading his strategies I'm convinced that he is onto something awesome. I no longer consider whether it's possible to make money on the RMAH, but rather, just how much I'm going to make!

1. Use the gold auction house to buy and sell items which are worth less than $1.50.
2. Sell the best or nearly best versions of every item. Don't waste your time with lesser items.
3. Research what players want from their gear. Use google as that's what most other players will try. As well as large fan sites. Follow the fads and stay one step ahead of them.
4. Bid. There's no limit to the number of auctions you can bid on. Bid on everything if it's low enough.
5. Be careful not to put all of your eggs into one basket. Diversify because you only get 10 auctions per auction house.
6. Don't post duplicate items unless demand is high.
7. Always post a buyout option as well as bid option for your items.
8. Watch the buying and selling patterns of other players. Some people call these activities cycles.
9. When crafting, don't throw away any items you don't need. Either salvage them or put them up on the auction house.
10. Figure out all the possible events, chests, and mobs you can find in a single farming area. Use this information along with the town portal and waypoints to plan farming sessions.
11. Check each commodity at least once per night for cheap deals.
